Arts Revealed - The Exhibition

Date:

Saturday, 28 May 2016 - 12:00am to Sunday, 31 July 2016 - 12:00am

Arts RevealedArts Revealed - The Exhibition presents artwork from 23 Eastern Bay artists, offering a broad spectrum of disciplines and local perspectives. Inspired by the publication ‘Arts Revealed, Conversations with artists, writers, musicians and performers’, created by Heather Hourigan and Andrea Cooper, disparate ways of making are drawn together, with place acting as a point of reference and connection between each artist.

Heather and Andrea's initial investigations of creative pursuit in the Eastern Bay discovered ‘unseen talent’. This influenced the beginnings of an evolving collaboration between artist, writer, photographer, and now gallery.

The presenting artists are at varying stages of their careers, from emerging to established, who show a high level of commitment to their arts practice. By means of interviews and video documentation, the viewer is privy to coffee table conversations that explore aspects of the artist’s creative process not often revealed to the public.

Artists have a unique voice and play an important role in a community’s cultural identity. The arts encourage the exploration of new ideas while enhancing the community’s capacity to grasp differing viewpoints. The artists exhibited in Arts Revealed - The Exhibition are vital to sustaining the vibrancy of our region, providing fresh ways for audiences to engage, and in turn strengthening our own sense of identity and place.
