Sheaff Family Gallery

If you combine two words – global and local, you end up with “Glokool”, the name of a dynamic new exhibition in the Sheaff Family Gallery at Te Koputu.

Glokool is a solo exhibition by Zena Elliott (Ngati Awa/Whakatohea) which explores the relationship between popular culture and personal identity.

Elliott uses references to media technologies, such as music videos, video gaming, and comics, together with cultural icons from home and abroad, in an explosion of symbolism and colour.
