The Pitcairn Tapa Room looks into the unique history and material culture of Pitcairn Islanders and their descendants.

The exhibition includes tapa made by Meralda Warren; engravings of historical figures by Jean Clarkson; and examples of tapa and related tools.

It pays tribute to the original vahine of Pitcairn Island and the role of women in the formation and continuation of Pitcairn and Norfolk Island cultures over the years. It also celebrates the revival of Pitcairn Island tapa, spurred on by the work of the 'Ahu Sistas – Meralda Warren, Jean Clarkson, Sue Pearson and Pauline Reynolds.
