Dolphins by Ross MurrayWhere: Community Board Gallery, Te Koputu a Te Whanga a Toi

Te Koputu a te Whanga a Toi is proud to present a new exhibition "Traverse" by illustrator Ross Murray. The series of work coming to Te Koputu in August surveys New Zealand from North to South. 'Traverse' will be comprised of a collection of giclée prints, featuring a range of celebrated scenic locations, including new works honouring sites right here in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Ross Murray is an illustrator based in Mount Maunganui. After studying graphic design he developed a diverse range of styles while working as an in-house artist at an Auckland ad agency. These days he’s most well-known for his colourful comic book-inspired artwork and his ‘vintage travel'-style illustrations.

To complement the exhibition, the artist has designed line versions of his "Traverse" prints for Whakatāne locals, young and old, to colour in. Te Koputu's Curator Exhibitions, Sarah Hudson, says "Ross has composed some beautiful illustrations for us to colour in. This hands-on element offers a chance for our community to come and get creative with their own unique colour combinations".
