Tuakana/Teina can refer to a relationship between an older person (tuakana) and a younger person (teina) and is specific to teaching and learning in a Māori context. This mentor/mentee relationship can also exist peer to peer, or younger to older depending on ability and accessibility.
Join us for an evening in the gallery to meet and chat with inspiring, active members of our community. This event has been designed to acknowledge an issue that local rangatahi highlighted at the beginning of the PUNA exhibition, the desire for more Tuakana/Teina relationships.
This is a free event with light refreshments provided in conjunction with the closing weekend of PUNA. Our hope for the Tuakana Teina Meetup is that it will plant seeds amongst like-minded people to generate long-lasting relationships.
Mauri ora!
