Whakatāne Arts and Crafts Society - Visual Expressions

Sheaff Family Gallery

The work of 26 local artists is featured in Visual Expressions, an exhibition at Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi – the Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre.

The exhibitors are all members of the Whakatāne Arts and Crafts Society, which this year has chosen to focus on new works from its painting, woodcrafting and decoupage groups.

The Whakatāne Museum and Gallery has a long history of exhibiting an annual show of works from the Society, and 2013 is the first time the exhibition has been held in the new gallery spaces at Te Kōputu.

About the Whakatāne Museum

The Whakatāne Museum is located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and serves the Whakatāne District and the Mataatua rohē. The museum operates over two premises.

Museum Background

The origins of the museum date to 1933, with the formation of the Bay of Plenty Māori and Historical Research Society.
