Artist: Whakatāne Arts Society
Location: Sheaff Family Gallery, Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi

The Whakatāne Art Society was formed in 1960, by a group of painters and potters who were interested in promoting art & craft in the community.

In 1981, a lease was secured for the familiar building on McAllister Street - the Art House. Forty years later the Art House is still in constant use by woodworkers, quilters, potters and painters, weaving a continuous bright thread of creating and making through the history of the Whakatane district.

The exhibition celebrates this contribution as well as looking towards the future. The majority of the exhibits are for sale.
