About the Whakatāne Museum

The Whakatāne Museum is located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and serves the Whakatāne District and the Mataatua rohē. The museum operates over two premises.

Museum Background

The origins of the museum date to 1933, with the formation of the Bay of Plenty Māori and Historical Research Society.
