Kaiārahi / Visitor Host Programme

Whakatāne Museum and Arts runs an exciting Kaiārahi / Visitor Host programme in the galleries at Te Kōputu a te Whanga a Toi — Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre. Our fantastic group of Kaiārahi / Visitor Hosts comprises people from our community with a passion for arts, heritage, and the place we live in.

Our Museum’s rich history and captivating exhibitions are bought to life by members of this dedicated team every weekend between 10:15 am and 1:45 pm. Come by and say hello!

About the Whakatāne Museum

The Whakatāne Museum is located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and serves the Whakatāne District and the Mataatua rohē. The museum operates over two premises.

Museum Background

The origins of the museum date to 1933, with the formation of the Bay of Plenty Māori and Historical Research Society.
