Whakatāne Museum and Arts presents a collection of artworks from well-renowned New Zealand artist Andrew McLeod.
Featuring grand figurative works and playful miniatures (2000 -2017), McLeod combines a mastery of realist technique influenced by a host of significant art history names, like Hieronymous Bosch and Henry Fuselli, with a collection of postmodern and contemporary visual culture.
McLeod (b. 1976, Rotorua) studied at Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland. He grew up in Mt Eden and currently lives and works there. He has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and internationally, and in 2010 was the recipient of an Arts Foundation Award for Patronage Donation from Gus and Irene Fisher. Andrew's paintings are a part of New Zealand’s public institution collections, including Auckland Art Gallery, James Wallace Arts Trust and Te Papa Tongarewa – Museum of New Zealand.
