MMCA Locals Morning Location: Te Kōputu a te Whanga a Toi - Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre

Come along for morning tea with the Mayor, followed by a 2019 Molly Morpeth Canaday Award - Painting and Drawing talk by local arts advocate and teacher Sue Whale from 11 am. Individuals and groups welcome.

About the Whakatāne Museum

The Whakatāne Museum is located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and serves the Whakatāne District and the Mataatua rohē. The museum operates over two premises.

Museum Background

The origins of the museum date to 1933, with the formation of the Bay of Plenty Māori and Historical Research Society.
