Established in 1960, the Whakatāne Society of Arts and Crafts inc. began as a way for friends to learn about painting together. This exhibition celebrates the Whakatāne Society of Arts and Crafts and their role in designating a space for creative comradery in our town.
Come along and make your own poi in this family-friendly workshop. Staff will be on hand to guide you through the process, combining wool, textile scraps and offcuts, into a one-of-a-kind, plastic-free poi.

Plenty magazine has been working with local writers, artists, designers, weavers, musicians and filmmakers to showcase the amazing creative talents of the Eastern Bay for nearly four years. This exhibition highlights local talent and stories in a different context.

Whakatāne Museum and Arts runs an exciting Kaiārahi / Visitor Host programme in the galleries at Te Kōputu a te Whanga a Toi — Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre.
The Whakatāne Museum is located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and serves the Whakatāne District and the Mataatua rohē. The museum operates over two premises.
