A series of 18 drawings, in ink and Tūhourangi black sand, which collectively tell a story of a particular journey into the night realm, Te Pō.  

It begins at the very beginning of space and time, when creation was still forming.  This story starts with Hine-tītama (Light) retreating from Te Ao Marama, into the sanctuary of Te Pō (Night).

Not to represent, but memorialise is a three channel video work that explores ways of engaging with tensions inherent in museums, archives and gardens. Thinking through the idea of the encounter in a museum context it addresses ways of engaging with taonga Māori in European collections, but also thinks through the broader British colonial project and the movement of plants and animals.

In Moemoeā - a time for dreaming Borell explores the concept of Moemoeā, dreaming and envisioning. His works encourage the viewer to embark on an introspective journey, contemplating their own paths, while inspiring a reimagining of collective narratives.
